Monthly Meeting - June 3rd,  6:30 pm

Social Hour

Our June Meeting will open with a Social Hour featuring light refreshments allowing time to visit and network with fellow turners. At 7:30, following brief announcements, we will open a Show and Tell session followed by a wood and tool raffle. Folks attending virtually are encouraged to log onto the Zoom session at 7:15 to network with those online prior to Show & Tell. There will be a separate email to all members with more detailed information early in May.

This will be an in person and hybrid meeting

A recording of the demonstration, along with any accompanying materials, will be available online following the meeting.

Open Studios

There will be Friday morning Open Studios on May 1, 8, 15, 22. We want to ensure that everyone gets the lathe and/or material they would like to use, so please reserve your spot by emailing davearnonehome@gmail.com by the Wednesday prior to the date you want to attend.The studio provides lathes, some tooling and materials, depending on needs. The studio opens at 9:00AM and we generally close by 12:30PM. Space is limited so RESERVE your spot by emailing, texting or calling Dave (davearnonehome@gmail.com or 518 858-1108). Come and turn and network with your fellow turners. The studio is located at 260 Long Pond Drive.

Special Event- Introduction to 3D Printing

May 20 – Introduction to 3D Printing for Turners Workshop with Tom Gerhard – Harwich 204 Creative Arts Building 9:30 to 11:30 studio 110 -  Tom Gerhard will provide a high-level overview of 3D printing – how it works, the different types of 3D printing, and share some of the applications of 3D printing in the shop.  We’ll discuss the workflow to go from a concept to a finished print and talk about resources that Tom has found useful.  The workshop will be held at the Launchpad Makerspace of the Cape Cod Makerspace in Harwich, where we can see printers of various sizes and technologies.

Josh Prokop, a 3D artist from Harwich, will talk about his experience creating art with the technology. A brief tour of the Makerspace will be given after the workshop for those who are interested. Space is Limited, RSVP to Tom at tom@87squirrels.com ASAP to RESERVE your spot.

Coffee Hour

May28th – Virtual Coffee Hour – 9:00 AM 

There will be an open discussion on finishing as well as, a Show and Tell featuring turnings you would like to share. You can upload photos of your work at any time during the month to the following link but please upload by the Tuesday prior to the coffee hour.
